When should I be concerned about my baby’s feeding?

Get help if your baby has one or more of these symptoms:

• Has dark urine
• Has fewer wet or dirty diapers than expected
• Is very sleepy and hard to wake up to feed
• Has yellow skin and eyes and is not feeding well
• Has a dry, sticky mouth
• Breastfed newborn: is feeding less than 8 times in 24 hours
• Bottle fed newborn (on commercial infant formula): is feeding less than 6 times in 24 hours

If your baby seems sick or dehydrated:

• Go to the hospital emergency
• Call Health811 at 811
• Call the hospital where you gave birth or call your midwife
