More COVID-19 Vaccination Appointments Now Available for Youth aged 12 to 17

2021-05-31

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) is pleased to announce that additional appointments at dedicated youth COVID-19 vaccination clinics offering the Pfizer vaccine are now available to those aged 12 to 17. These clinics will run throughout the weeks of June 14 and 21.

Vaccine appointments will also be available through regular mass immunization clinics and at select pharmacies administering the Pfizer vaccine. The Pfizer vaccine is currently the only COVID-19 vaccine that has been authorized by Health Canada for use in youth aged 12 and over. To be eligible for the vaccine, individuals must be 12 years of age by the date of their appointment.

Assistance with Booking

Youth and their family members who have not received their first dose are encouraged to visit our website to learn how to book an appointment. In some cases, there are multiple options for booking an appointment. Booking is also available directly through the provincial booking system at www.Ontario.ca/bookvaccine. For children who are turning 12 in the next few months, or if you require assistance with booking, please call the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-833-943-3900 to find out how you can book an appointment.

Appointments can be made by an individual or with the help of someone. If you know someone who is eligible, please encourage them to get vaccinated. Those needing assistance with booking or getting to their COVID-19 vaccine appointment should visit our website to access local supports.

For individuals aged 12 to 17 who have barriers preventing them from physically going to a vaccination clinic, parents/guardians can call the Eastern Ontario Health Unit at 1 800 267-7120 (press 5) to discuss alternate arrangements.

Ongoing Collaboration

The EOHU appreciates that there is keen interest in receiving the vaccine. While appointments may be limited at times, we ask the public to please be patient, and to check our website regularly for updates on new appointment availabilities. More appointments will be added as vaccine supply is confirmed.

It remains extremely important to continue following public health precautions – even if you have received the vaccine – until a large majority of residents in our region have been vaccinated.
